Chevrolet Corvair Monza Turbo

The Corvair Monza was one of the world's first two turbocharged automobiles. In the spring of 1962, General Motors introduced the Oldsmobile Jetfire Turbo and this Corvair Monza Turbo, the first-ever applications of an exhaust-driven compressor in a production car.

This Monza was built in 1963 and appears to be in good order, and original except for some interior add-ons and incorrect 1970's-era wheels and tyres. Note that the correct horsepower for this car is 150; not 180 as the air filter decal and seller state. The 180 hp version did not arrive until 1965, when the body was restyled and the name of the turbo version was changed to from Monza to Corsa (retaining the Italian theme.)

These cars are quite rare outside the US. With the limited slip 'Positraction' differential and rear-engine traction, this wold be an ideal candidate for the Monte-Carlo Rallye Historique. On eBay Switzerland with a starting bid of CHF 9,900 or a Buy-It-Now price of CHF 13,900. Located in Bern, Switzerland. See it here.

Colourful 1979 Citroën Dyane

Wild Citroën Dyane is finished in searingly incendiary yellow with red interior and will never be confused with today's cars sporting such colourful finishes as black and grey! The Dyane was an upscale version of the 2CV with more modern styling and a rear hatch, but beneath the skin they were identical to a top-spec 2CV. It is quite unusual to find them in this condition. Reported mileage is 40,000 km. Selling dealer is asking €2,700. Located in Campania in Southern Italy. See it here.

1973 Tatra T603

Update 22/09/09:

High bid of €5,305 did not meet reserve.

This Series III Tatra T603 was built in 1973, but looks like one of the original 1955 models with it's light blue and white colour scheme. The T603 is powered by the classic 2.5 litre air-cooled rear-mounted V8. The T603 was directly descended from the pre-war T77 that was a favourite transport of Eastern-Front Wehrmacht officers during the war.

Tatras were by far the most interesting of all the Communist-era automobiles and were generally driven by Party elite. Affix some proper period registration plates, get yourself a bowler hat and re-live the Cold War!

On eBay France. Located right across the Channel in Nord-Pas-de-Calais. See it here.

1978 Fiat 128 3P

This one-owner RHD Fiat 128 3P 1300 is in amazingly original condition. The seller claims 40,000 miles and overall 'very good' condition. A set of genuine Fiat alloy wheels (or even the original Fiat steel wheels) would give the appearance a real boost. Unfortunately, no photos of the interior or engine compartment are supplied. If you can ignore the torque-steer when accelerating hard from rest, these are very entertaining to drive and very neutral handling for a front-wheel drive chassis. Located in Middlesex. On eBay UK. See it here.
