In the spring of 1962, General Motors introduced the Oldsmobile Jetfire Turbo and this Corvair Monza Turbo, the first-ever applications of an exhaust-driven compressor in a production car.

This Monza was built in 1963 and appears to be in good order, and original except for some interior add-ons and incorrect 1970's-era wheels and tyres. Note that the correct horsepower for this car is 150; not 180 as the air filter decal and seller state. The 180 hp version did not arrive until 1965, when the body was restyled and the name of the turbo version was changed to from Monza to Corsa (retaining the Italian theme.)

These cars are quite rare outside the US. With the limited slip 'Positraction' differential and rear-engine traction, this wold be an ideal candidate for the Monte-Carlo Rallye Historique. The dark blue-green paint with tan leather is a great combination on this car. Dark colours are well suited to the ES as they camouflage the rather ungainly matt black plastic cabin air extractors on the rear wings. This makes for quite an elegant and unusual looking ES - most we remember were yellow, orange or gold. The 1800ES is a rare commodity. They are quite practical and were somewhat of a later-day MGB-GT. This RHD example is tastefully equipped with period-correct wing mirrors, fog lamps, roof aerial and number plates. Performance is good with a Bosch D-Jetronic injected 2.o B-20 engine, 4-speed gearbox and overdrive. Located in Hampshire. A very complete and unmolested example. These Fiats were quite entertaining to drive and none other than famed road tester John Bolster owned one. The 850 Coupé won Category 1, Group 1 in the 1967 Monte-Carlo Rallye and the Coupés are still active in vintage rallying today. The rare Sport version included the extra inset driving lights up front, a faux-wood rim steering wheel, a tachometer and other goodies.

This one appears to have been originally yellow and at some point was re-sprayed resale red. The seller states that there is some light corrosion that needs attention. We would take a good look at that, and make sure the repaint was done properly. We would also get rid of the current boy-racer steering wheel and 1980's outside mirrors and try to track down the original bits. This might be a great buy if it can be bought at the right price. On eBay France with a starting bid of €1,000. Located in Aquitaine. It has travelled only 39,000 miles and appears to be in quite good overall condition except for corroded sills which have led to MOT failure. The wood and hide interior seem to be in fine fettle, showing a nice patina. This Austin Cooper 1275 looks the part in official BMC racing colours, and features widened stock steel wheels - a nice alterative to the usual Minilites. We are big fans of the Mark I's as they lack the big carbuncle-like grill of the later models. Other than the usual missing cabin-air hose, the engine compartment looks very impressive and original and likewise for the interior except for a too-small aftermarket steering wheel. Though built as a standard Cooper, the seller claims to have added all the S bits. On eBay (currently £1,000.) That's where you will find this very original and complete Renault Dauphine Gordini R 1091. It appears completely original except for the later R8 1.3-style Gordini wheels. We would replace them straight away as not only are they out of period, but they put way to much rubber on the road to have fun with.

Corsica is a fitting place for this Renault since the first ever Tour de Corse Rally in 1956 was won by Gilberte Thirion and Nadège Ferrier in a Dauphine! This 1970 RHD example was the last year of production and benefits from having the 2-litre B-20 engine and front disc brakes. The red and white exterior with red and black interior is a hard combination to beat, and looks particularly good with the original wild Volvo '70's four-spoke steering wheel. In part because it is very effective in hiding the characteristic DS panel gaps which, even when new were often large enough to stick a finger through. This RHD example is the top-spec Pallas with leather trimmed interior and 'clutchless' gearbox. This RHD example seems fairly correct and original. The interior is tan, but the seats seem to have been replaced with newer BMW seats in black. This would have to be addressed and we are concerned that the sill trim is missing and that the sills look a bit suspect from the top side in the photos with the door open, particularly on the passenger side. This suggests that corrosion repairs have been carried out at some point. We recommend some pre-bid dialogue with the seller to sort this out. Both the Minilite style wheels shown and the original steel wheels are included. Located in Ireland. It is finished in a great shade of green (similar to classic Aston Martin green), complimented with a white stripe. We always felt that these two-tone versions best suit the Michelotti styling of these cars. To top it off, the car sports a gorgeous red interior. This car is a real stunner; you just don't see these classic color combinations anymore. The front of course features the angled 'Chinese eye' headlamps that were all the rage in the mid-sixties, appearing on both Bentleys and Ferraris. This 1962 example (the first year of Vitesse production) is the original 1.6 twin-carb version of the sweet Triumph six cylinder engine and is equipped with the optional overdrive. Asking £5,250. Why not go for Alfa's first supercar instead. The Alfa Romeo Montreal, designed by the great Marcello Gandini (who earlier penned the Lamborghini Miura) was introduced at the Geneva Salon in 1970 and sold through 1977. Less than 4000 examples were built. It was powered by a sweet sounding 2.6 litre dry-sump V8.

This car is so emblematic of the 1970's that we actually prefer seeing them in period oranges, yellow and browns, but you certainly can't go wrong with a red Italian. This one appears to be very original and in exceptional condition. Asking price is €35,000. In Belgium. Well optioned with full leather, electric windows and power locks. Classic period colour combo of white and grey with red carpet giving a nice sporting touch to the interior. There is a strut brace installed and the owner claims 142 hp against the original 128 (or 122 with cat) so there must be some motor mods as well, although we don't see much in the photo. This was the king of hot hatches in its day. The 1.9, in addition to the larger displacement, also came with 4-wheel disc brakes. Car is in France near Lyon. Asking €7,500. See that British entered GS here and the results sheet here. The owner states that this one has been in covered storage for 14 years and has been started since. It will probably need a reseal and other work to get it roadworthy, but the all-important hydraulic system is claimed to be in proper order. These cars are powered by a horizontally-opposed overhead-cam air-cooled 4-cylinder engine (sort of a 2/3 version of a 911 motor) and have the same hydro-pneumatic suspension as their big brothers, the DS and later CX. Interesting cars and quite rare today. In the Midi-Pyrénées. Starting price is only €100. This is one of the cheapest entries into a top-level event. Gentlemen, start your bidding. This is a rare car today, Apparently there is some rear body damage not shown in the photos but otherwise appears complete and in good nick. Very appealing blue/red color combo. We would remove the HF logos since there never was an HF Berlina and apply just the rampaging Lancia elephant in the proper red color. Installing a genuine Fulvia Coupe wing mirror would be a good addition. An interesting alternative to the much more commonly seen Alfa 1300 Giulia. In France. £2,250. Seller describes it as a Camper Van, but it is actually a standard Microbus in 7-seater configuration. The sunroof has been recently replaced, unfortunately in the wrong color (should be off-white). This was the last year for the fabric sunroof and split windscreen. Might be a good buy if the bids do not escalate too far from the £17,000 starting price. We would consider keeping the original 1500 engine in the garage and building a reliable 1835 to better keep up with modern traffic. Classic car of many a cold-war era thriller. Would make a stately driver or, with a manual gearbox conversion, a sturdy historic rally car.
